The Retail Industry: Wal-Martism July 31, 2007

Oct. 30, 2012 – Perhaps having lived through several presidential & mid-term election campaigns where they mostly and factually talk about the past, forget about the present and dream about the future which when the time comes are nightmares, I thought of posting what I wrote in the past. At least they are relevant and I think, useful. The next president will certainly have to face the Fiscal Cliff. This is still part of Paper No. VIII (5/21/04) – Others featuring the RETAIL Industry. I’ve distinguished clothing apparel from the Retail (dept. stores) and Groceries (Food). Through a WAIS post on 07/31/07, I’ve made a forecast on the retail industry specifically Wal-Mart & Nordstrom. Attached is the call THREE & A HALF months later. The “three and half months later” call has figured in three forecasts already. The Great Recession; Perfect Storm: Globalization & the Insurance Industry (June 20, 2006)  and this. Below is the WAIS excerpt:

“WAISers should read the book and hopefully like me, they would discover Wal-Mart’s secret to success. (And how Wal-Mart is in fact 2 even 3 steps ahead of other industries and its closest competitor.)Wal-Mart seeks to provide the goods people want at low prices. It’s the exact opposite of the equally successful Nordstrom’s. AND ANYTHING IN THE MIDDLE WILL SOON BE IN TROUBLE OR IS CURRENTLY STRUGGLING unless they learn how to compete against Wal-Mart.”
