Quezon Favored Dominion Status

Feb. 20, 2016 – According to page 251 of the same book “In Our Image” by Stanley Karnow, in 1927 Quezon confided to Henry L. Stimson, the former Secretary of War that he prefer autonomy, dominion status over independence as an implied admission that Filipinos were not and in fact to this day not ready for self rule.

Stimson frankly told Quezon and Osmena that he opposed giving independence to the Philippines because of the “Malays’ tendencies to backslide” would destroy the archipelago.

Stimson also believed only the Americans could check the undemocratic oligarchy that doesn’t really care about the farmers, the majority of the people of the Philippines. Free institutions of democratic countries could only be promoted by Americans, as far as Stimson was concerned.

However, I do not agree with Henry Stimson that only the U.S. could effectively deal with the “undemocratic oligarchy” still in power to this day. Quezon & Stimson favor dominion status over independence. In Sept. 1943 Quezon favored permanent bases p.251 & p.331

Quezon’s Last Will & Testament

In August 1944, a year before his death, Manuel L. Quezon Commonwealth President of the Philippines wrote to U.S. President  Franklin D. Roosevelt saying that “the postwar relationship between the Philippines and the United States should be as close, if not closer, our relationship before the war.”

This was considered the Philippine Commonwealth President’s the Last Will and Testament, then living in exile in the U.S.

Earlier in Sept. 1943 with the trauma of the fall of the Philippines Pres. Manuel Quezon once again pledged the Philippines’ allegiance to the U.S. and suggested that in order to guarantee “future peace of the Pacific”, there must be permanent bases in the Philippines.

So in addition to the U.S. Navy base at Sangley Point, Clark Airbase and the Subic Naval Base, Pentagon has drafted and prepared plans for an additional 23 Navy and 13 Army locations.

Had Manuel A. Roxas this pushed through with Quezon’s last will and testament, the Philippines would probably been the 51st state. But that’s water under bridge. How about if this is carried out today?

Can you imagine how many jobs this will create?

While Pres. Obama & Aquino III were holding a joint press conference last April 28, 2014, China has been drilling oil & gas in Scarborough Shoals and was reclaiming land in five (5) reefs!

And Aquino III refused to challenge China’s aggression and referred to those islands and reefs as “a few uninhabitable rocks”.

Both Pres. Obama and Aquino III failed to mention that the Spratlys area holds about 900 TRILLION CU. FT.  (25 trillion cubic meters)–the same as the proven reserves of Qatar

Aquino III: “That (prosperity of our respective people) I think has to be the primordial concern, RATHER THAN DISPUTES ON A FEW ROCKS THAT ARE NOT POSSIBLE TO BE INHABITED.”
