Easter 2023 (American Battle of Bataan POWs interview)
April 9, 2023 – Happy Easter! Also today is the 81st anniversary of the Fall of Bataan.
“If you love me, OBEY my commandments.” – John 14:15
Jesus gave us just two commandments the second being “Love your neighbor as yourself”. In the Parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus Christ explained who is our neighbor, i.e. the one who helped us. For the longest time we, especially Christians in the USA, have been ignoring our neighbors in the Philippines. What happens when we fail to help our neighbors?
The answer is in Matthew 25:45 “WHEN YOU REFUSED to HELP THE LEAST of THESE MY BROTHERS and SISTERS, YOU WERE REFUSING to HELP ME.’” – Matthew 25:45 From The Sheep and the Goats Matthew 25:31-46 ================= When are we going to take concrete steps to help our neighbors, our families and friends in the Philippines? Maybe we should invoke equity, diversity and inclusion as Native Americans.
MORE THAN A GOOD SAMARITAN
World War II in the Philippines
April 1942 – Bataan Death March
*In San Fernando, Pampanga and other towns, Filipino civilians risked their lives to give food and water to American and Filipino troops force to walk the 60 to 70 mile Bataan Death March.*
Often Japanese guards would bayonet civilians giving food and water to US and Filipino soldiers. But this DID NOT DISCOURAGE FILIPINO CIVILIANS. In fact, WORD SPREAD about the plight of AMERICAN & FILIPINO POWs, like wild fire the crowds of FILIPINOS WANTING to help GREW bigger & bolder. THESE FILIPINOS WERE way more than the PROVERBIAL GOOD SAMARITAN. This is open defiance of the inhuman treatment of their fellow man.Often Japanese guards would bayonet civilians giving food and water to US and Filipino soldiers.
“At 0:41 – *Even though Filipinos tried to give us food, the Japanese wouldn’t let them and SEVERAL TIMES they BAYONETED WOMEN, CHILDREN TRYING TO GIVE US WATER and FOOD.”*
